North of the San Diego coast is where you will find the beautiful City of Carlsbad. The charming and vibrant epicenter of Downtown Carlsbad is home to Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. We had the pleasure of having a weekend getaway at this beautiful resort in Carlsbad and it was absolutely everything we could have asked for. It's laid-back coastal vibes and prime location made it the perfect beach getaway. If you are searching for the perfect resort for your beach staycation in Carlsbad, this is it! I'll share our honest review and everything you need to know about this resort down below.
Rooms
We had to opportunity to stay in a their 1 bedroom condo that was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view of the ocean, pool and courtyard. The view from the balcony was my favorite thing to see right after waking up and right before bed. The balcony had a little set up perfect to enjoy my morning coffee and evening glass of wine.
The convenience of having a full kitchen is incomparable, specially when traveling as a family. We were able to bring items that we normally would have not been able to bring due to refrigeration. We were even able to avoid being wasteful and reheated left overs in the microwave! If you are a large family, I know I don't even have to tell you now much money this can save! No crumbs anywhere on the beds either because the condo had a full dinning room area.
Their 1 bedroom condo had a King-Sized Bed and a Queen Sleeper Sofa bed that could easily fit two smaller kiddos. My 10 year old daughter slept very comfortably in the sleeper sofa while we had a king size bed in our own separate sleeping quarters. If you are traveling with a bigger family, 2 bedroom condos are also available.
The bathroom was equally clean and updated with a walk-in shower and luxury fittings.
Amenities
I love a resort with good services and amenities but when traveling as a family and being steps from the beach these little extras turn into necessities. The amenities available at no additional cost at Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort are amazing and saved us tons of space and packing time. Everything we needed for a day of fun at the beach was all supplied by the resorts Activities center. We simply signed out what we needed and returned it when we were all done, it was really that easy. They have items like:
Beach chairs
Beach towels
Beach umbrellas
Boogie boards
Sand toys
Beach bikes (must be 16+ with valid ID)
Activities
If you are traveling with kids, fun is key to a successful trip, at least it is for my active 10 year old daughter. Well I'm happy to report that lack of family fun was definitely not an issue during our stay. On site we enjoyed things like ping-pong, Foosball, and swam in their heated outdoor pool. The resort has a beautiful and spacious courtyard with tons of seating areas and fire pits. We sat and chatted with new friends while Alexia herself made friends and had tons of space to play and run around the courtyard with them. We even enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night while we looked at the stars and enjoyed a glass of wine. If you and your family enjoy grilling they even have outdoor BBQ's available for guest to use. Hubby grilled some hotdogs and had his handy little helper assisting.
As if these activities aren't enough, on arrival we received an activities calendar with tons of other activities to enjoy on site or around the area. A few do require an additional minimal fee but some are complimentary. On arrival we got to enjoy live music, complimentary wine and snacks at the courtyard. Talk about feeling Welcomed! You will also find complimentary spa water, coffee and tea daily.

Prime Location
Everything we could possibly need was on site or within walking distance. The resort is right in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Talk about location, location, location! You can walk to almost everything you could want, from a vacation including the beach, restaurants/bars, wineries, boutiques, surfboard rentals, coffee shops, train stop and so much more. The beauty of this resort is you can have a relaxing or as active getaway as you'd like. Here are some of the restaurants and activities outside the resort, that we recommend while visiting Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort.
•Carlsbad City Beach- This long and wide stretch of beach is clean and conveniently located just steps away for Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. You can find steps directly to the beach right behind the resort saving you the trouble of having to look for parking or having to worry about parking fees.
•Vigilucci's Seafood and Steakhouse- If you are looking for a delicious and nice evening out this is the perfect restaurant. The menu features certified prime steaks and the freshest seafood all with a signature Italian flair. The location is beautiful and the food was absolutely amazing. •Daily News Cafe- Steps from the resort we found this family owned, laid back, indoor/ outdoor seating cafe and had a lovely breakfast! The food was good and service was great. On arrival look at the resorts activity calendar because on certain days all resort guest get a discount.
•Linda's Yogurt & Deli- This was the perfect place for one of our favorite snacks...Acai bowl. This local shop was just a few steps from the resort. This little deli had sandwiches, salads, ice cream and Acai bowls. Perfect for lunch or even to grab and take to the beach.
•Norte Mexican- This restaurant was right next to the resorts pool area which made it extremely convenient to order lunch and drinks to enjoy at poolside. We ordered drinks, had some delicious steak nachos and Steak Burrito. There's tons of different options to choose from and have indoor and outdoor seating.
•The Flower Fields- This is a very popular destination during the spring and rightfully so. It's nearly fifty acres of mother natures work or art. It has become part of the area’s local heritage and one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring. It is only an 11 minute drive from the resort and I highly recommend you visit when in Carlsbad, anywhere from early March to early May. •Legoland- Just a short 11 minute drive to one of Carlsbad most popular theme parks from the resort.
