Have you had a movie night recently? We love movie nights but this time we wanted something a little different. Luckily, we found Starlite Drive In Movie Theater set up very close to home showing Halloween classics the entire month of October! We bought tickets, loaded the car, grabbed some snacks and headed to our first drive in movie experience to enjoy the movie from the comfort and safety of our car. I want to give you some tips on things I learned from this visit for the best movie car set up, best snack ideas and why Starlite Movies is the ultimate drive in movie experience.
Starlite Movies
We attended their movie experience In Brea but they have locations in Irvine, San Clemente, and Norco as well. Our experience and review will be based off of their Brea location but tips can be useful for any drive in experience.
Starlite Movies Brea location is inside the Brea Mall parking lot across from Bj's Restaurant Brewhouse. From the moment we drove in we could tell how organized everything was. They had us pull up our tickets on our phone, they scanned the code and we were in! We had employees directing all cars to their parking spot keeping in mind that bigger trucks/SUV's are placed at the back or side of venue. Parking location is based on a first come first serve basis so we arrived early. We have a smaller SUV and were placed to the side of the venue. They have the largest outdoor inflatable screen and professional grade FM transmitters that no matter where you are parked you are able to enjoy the movie on the screen. Showtime started at 7:30 but gates opened at 5:00 and we arrived at around 5:30. I definitely recommend you arrive early and I'll tell you why! We had time to set up our space, buy some additional snacks and food, take pictures, and enjoy the music playing. Once the movie started we were perfectly situated to just watch the movie without any interruptions.
Why We Loved This Brea Location
Starlite Movies has a stand that has delicious lemonade, popcorn and candy. However, we wanted to eat a full meal before all the snacks and this is where this specific location came into play. The parking is located right in the middle of both BJ's Restaurant Brewhouse and The Cheesecake Factory both within walking distance. We went with Bj's because it a favorite of ours. We made an online order for pickup and within 20 minutes were enjoying a full meal in our car while we waited for the movie, it was perfect!
What To Bring And Do To Prepare For Your Visit
If you have a SUV or Truck you have the option to pop up your trunk and watch the movie from the trunk/bed of your truck. We were not aware of this option but when they asked us prior to parking we decided to watch from our trunk!
Before visiting make sure you clean the trunk of you car or have a blanket to cover it with.
Make sure and bring some pillows for extra comfort, thats something we could have used.
Although they sell snacks on site like popcorn, and candy you are free to bring your very own favorites from home. Some perfect movie snack ideas are things like chocolates, chips and fruit. Who doesn't love snacks while watching a movie right?
Want to make it a romantic date? Bring a picnic baskets! We saw someone doing this in the back of their truck and it was adorable.
If you are watching from the trunk/ bed of your truck I would suggest some bug spray in case you are prone to getting bit. We went on a warm night and definitely saw a few flying around.
You can even bring folding chairs and place them right in front of your trunk for more of an outdoor movie theater experience.
The audio for the movies is broadcast through a Professional Grade FM transmitter (radio), so make sure you have a good sound system in your vehicle. Not to worry, if you don't have an FM transmitter in your car you can bring a battery-operated stereo with speakers to hear the movie
You must wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times when outside your vehicle.
Each ticket purchased is valid for ONE car and all passengers inside. The number of passengers just must not exceed the number of safety belts /seats in the car
Celebrate the entire month of October with classic HALLOWEEN movies.
