Updated: May 5
If you are in search of an adorable cabin for that perfect weekend getaway in the mountains, you've found it! We stayed in Running Springs, a gateway city to Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. Aside from it being a charming little town, It is there where we found the most adorable and cozy cabin for up to 4 guest, Treehaus Cabin. Treehaus cabin has that cozy cabin feeling with a stunning modern twist. It's not so far up the mountain saving you some driving time, while still giving you that perfect mountain experience. It's perfectly located to lots of great dining options, hiking trails and even snow fun if visiting during the winter. If you are looking to have a family or romantic getaway weekend in the mountains, this cozy cabin is absolutely perfect and I'm excited to share with you why. Come on in and take a look inside.
Treehaus cabin is found in the heart of Running Springs surrounded by trees with a beautiful traditional cabin look. On arrival we went up the first flight of stairs that led us to a beautiful deck with patio furniture perfect to sit and enjoy the views. We stopped for a second to enjoy the view, only to continue with excitement up the next flight of stairs that led us to the main entrance. As soon as we opened the door we all gasped! The interior of the cabin was absolutely gorgeous! Bright, airy, with tons of natural light, high ceilings and beautiful wood floors...very inviting. The decor was modern while still maintaining that warm cozy cabin feeling. On the first floor we found the living room, dining room, kitchen, restroom and bedroom with a queen bed. Up the stairs was the second bedroom with 2 double beds that could easily be put together for one large bed.
The cabin was impeccably clean and there were lots of little details that made it unique and memorable. We were impressed the moment we walked in, the cabin itself is beautiful, but it was the little details that truly made us fall in love with this cabin. Things like a record player, board games, white noise machine, clean and fresh smelling blankets throughout the cabin, a Keurig, coffee cups and a pantry full of snacks. We were greeted with a basket full of items for a charcuterie board, wine, and even a basket full of goodies for my daughter. You can tell lots of love & thought was put into making all guest feel welcomed and comfortable. We definitely felt it!
It's important to mention that the cabin provides extra blankets, clean towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Less for me to pack...score! The beds were comfortable with clean fresh smelling sheets. Wifi? Yes, and had a strong signal throughout. Heating system with thermostat was available and kept us warm and toasty throughout our stay. The owner was nice, quick to respond, and happy to answer any questions. Did we love the cabin, absolutely! Would we come back? In a heart beat. If fact we are already planning our next visit.
Things To Do Nearby
A few days before our visit to Treehaus Cabin, we received an email with all the details of our stay as well as a list of recommendations of things to do nearby. We decided to do 2 things from the list that were absolutely a blast and deserved to be included for all to enjoy.
This fun trail fit for all ages was just a quick 8 min drive from the cabin. The trail is almost 1 mile long and there's so much to see and appreciate. On arrival we picked up a free map that explained the type of trees we were looking at as well as other unique forest finds. You will find numeric posts that are clearly marked throughout the trail that make it very easy to follow along on the map. The trail is shady, easy, and there are even some picnic tables to enjoy a picnic or snack with the family. Entrance is absolutely free but you do require a parking pass that you can buy at any of the local stores or buy from the Arboretum booth on the weekends for $5.00.
This trail was a little bit further but absolutely worth the drive. It was a scenic 24 minute drive that allowed us to enjoy more of the nearby towns. The lake and trail was absolutely gorgeous. The lake is surrounded by a cool cedar and pine forest that allowed for some stunning views all around. The 2.3 mile dirt trail goes all around the lake and is an easy trail fit for all ages. During our walk we saw people fishing, walking their dogs, painting and having picnics around many of the picnic tables found around the lake. It's called a fitness trail because there are station activities throughout the whole trail for those looking to get an extra little workout. We saw some inflatables being set up in the water and a huge built in slide. We learned from a local hiker that during the summer it's a beautiful place for some water fun for the whole family. We are definitely looking forward to visiting again once it warms up. Parking is $10 max/day but access to the trail is absolutely free.
Places To Eat
1. Blondies Grille & Bar- After settling in we decided to explore the town and grab a late lunch. We didn't want to drive far and found this restaurant just a 6 min drive away from the cabin. It is a cute cabin style restaurant that had several locals sitting at the bar. Everyone including the employees were very welcoming and warm...we immediately felt at home. We were starving and everything sounded delicious but we went with a corn chowder soup, Tri Tip parmesan crusted sourdough sandwich, a Malibu chicken sandwich with their special sauce and hot turkey plate. To say we were impressed is an understatement. We honestly didn't expect for the food to be so tasty. The portions were fairly large but most importantly everything was delicious. From now on this will be a must visit anytime we come up the mountain.
2. Hortencias At The Cliffhanger- This restaurant had been in our list for a while now so we diverted a bit from the cabin, about 26 min to be exact, to stop and finally pay a visit. This Mexican restaurant has the most incredible views! Food was tasty with large portions and their Michelada was equally tasty and large. They views are equally great from the inside or their outdoor patio. There's some fun history surrounding the restaurant you can read up on when visiting. Definitely worth a stop!
Snack are always a must and we found this market just 5 minutes from the cabin. We actually found a lot more than just snacks. They have a full meat market, deli department, fresh fruits and veggies, alcohol and more. Fully stocked and conveniently close by.
