Pismo Beach CA- A Complete Guide To The Perfect Family Getaway

For our 10 year anniversary we wanted to getaway from the hustle and bustle of life while still staying in California. We had never been to Pismo Beach but had heard great things about it from friends. We decided to give it a try and couldn't be happier with how our family getaway turned out, so I decided to share the details of our trip for anyone else interested in visiting.

The Cliffs Hotel and Spa In Pismo Beach CA

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for for our family getaway. It is located on an oceanfront bluff overlooking a beach with stunning views of the central coast. It is family and even pet friendly! A big plus for us was that it had direct access to an amazing beach right on the property. We wanted to just get up and walk to the beach without having to worry about driving or parking and that is exactly what we got.

We decided to go with a Cliffs Signature room with 2 queen beds. We had a balcony that had both pool and ocean view. The room was clean and up to date with great sea inspired touches. Room came with a mini fridge, in room safe, free wifi, and Keurig specialty coffee and tea. Also included in the facility fee is 24 hour valet parking, bottled water upon request, shuttle to and from airport upon reservations.

Located inside the hotel across from the front desk you can find a cute little store with everything you can possible need during your stay. From beach wear, to sunblock, to wine. They also have some beautiful souvenirs to take back home.

They also have a pool, jacuzzi, and fire pit.

Marisol at The Cliffs

Located right next door to the Hotel property is the restaurant Marisol. The restaurant not only has beautiful panoramic Pacific views but their food is incredible. It was perfect for catching a quick meal before heading out to the beach, a drink while lounging in the grassy area admiring the views, and for a beautiful outdoor sunset dinner.

Shell Beach

This is the beach that the hotel overlooks and has direct access from the property. There is a stairway that takes you directly to this beautiful beach. It's nestled in a little cove and during low tide, which we were lucky enough to experience, has and abundance of tide pools for all to explore. There are 9 separate beaches tucked below the cliffs of Shell Beach. On our third day early in the morning the tide was so low that we were able to cross to 3 different beaches and admire and explore the scenic coves. It was breathtaking and where we chose to have our private 10 year wedding renewal with nothing but our phone, phone stand, and vows.

Ventana Grill

This is another restaurant we were told about and decided to check it out for our anniversary dinner. The food was yummy and the views are amazing all throughout the restaurant. Perfect for a sunset dinner, which is what we had.

DePalo & Sons

Just 3 min away from our hotel we found the cutest little Italian deli/market! Their sandwiches were delicious, they had fresh pastries daily, prepared food, and lots of wine to choose from. It was perfect for sandwiches and snacks for the beach, specially when you have a kiddo who wants to snack all times of the day. Highly recommend their turkey and brie sandwich and pastrami sandwich. Of course I have no pictures because we couldn't eat them fast enough haha. We definitely recommend them!
