This year in late September, my friend and I took a little business/pleasure trip to Miami Florida. With only 3 days to explore, we had to research and narrow it down to our absolute musts. Thanks to some of our wonderful local friends we were able to explore and get a taste of different sides of Miami. We both left with a newfound respect for everything Miami has to offer. Below I'll be listing the top 6 places to visit while in Miami. This guide will allow you to get the full Miami experience, even if only visiting for a short amount of time.
Little Havana
When we decided to visit Miami, we immediately knew we wanted to stop at Little Havana. It felt as though we had left Miami and traveled to a whole different country. It was amazing to see the representation of the Cuban culture in every corner. As we walked through Little Havana, we were able to hear the lively music and admire beautiful walls full of art. We were mesmerized by it all! Highly recommend you visit. It's a great way to immerse yourself and learn all about a different culture. There are lots of different restaurants and shops where you can stop for a typical cuban lunch, snack or souvenir.
Miami Beach Colored Lifeguard Towers
These towers are so fun and vibrant and you honestly can't help but take a picture with them. They come in all kinds of colors and are lined up all along the beach. The colors make a beautiful contrast with the clear blue water and are truly a work of art. It definitely makes for a fun colorful photo opportunity and if it's your first time in Miami, they are definitely worth visiting.
The Everglades Gator Park
You can't go to Florida and miss out on seeing an alligator right? We decided we wanted to get the full experience and headed out for a super fun adventure to the Everglades. We got to experience an airboat tour and got to see some alligators in their natural habitat. We had an expert guide who took us on a 30-40 minute ride where we learned all about the alligators, different plants, and other unique animals. It was such an adrenaline rush and definitely and experience I will never forget. This is one my daughter is dying to do! Versailles- La Ventanita
What exactly is "La Ventanita”? In english it translates to the small window and it's exactly that. It's the perfect place to stop by for a delicious Cortadito and Pastelito. A Cortadito is a Cuban expresso that consist of a presweetened espresso shot topped off with steamed milk. If you've never had one before you absolutely must try it. This was my first ever Cortadito and it was delicious. Sadly, after having the Cortadito from Versailles its ruined all others for me. I've been searching high and low here in California to find one that matches its flavor but I have yet to find one. That's why when in Miami this is a MUST! Perfect stop before starting your day to explore Little Havana.
3555 Southwest 8th Street Miami, Florida 33135-4196
Wynwood
What was once a collection of warehouses has been transformed in recent years into a neighborhood full of vibrant murals, restaurants and shops. This is a great area to visit for some fun murals and great Instagrammable moments. Perfect way to appreciate some street art for free.
CVI.CHE 105 Restaurant
There are lots of amazing restaurants in Miami but this particular restaurant had it ALL. Amazing food, tasty handcrafted cocktails, fun lively decor, and thee best service. You know those kind of restaurants you crave eating at again...well this is exactly that. It's been 3 months since we were last in Miami and to this day I'm dying to get my hands on their amazing Peruvian ceviche again. During our short visit in Miami we had dinner at this restaurant twice because we couldn't get over the overall delicious and great experience. If there's a restaurant you want to splurge on, this is the one. We were there over the weekend and they even had a DJ playing some great music. This place is definitely a vibe and will be my first stop next time we head out to Miami.
