Spring time is here and there's no better way to celebrate the beginning of Spring like visiting the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, CA. It's natures way of announcing the arrival of spring in Southern California. Whether you are local or visiting from out of town for spring break, this is an absolute must! The annual burst of color that transforms the rolling hills of North San Diego is an absolute unique and beautiful destination to visit with family and friends. The nearly 50 acres of bright and colorful Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers are in bloom now through May 8, 2022. We had an amazing visit and realized how much more there is to do besides admiring the flowers. Down below I'll share our experience, flower field photos, link to purchase your tickets and a list of things to do inside the flower fields.
Things To Do Inside The Flower Fields
Of course admiring the flower fields was the highlight of our visit but did you know that there's so much more to do once inside? I'll list some of the things we did down below.
Tractor wagon ride: We enjoyed an open-air wagon ride through The Flower Fields which dropped us off right in the middle of all the beautiful flowers for some awesome photo opportunities. The ride also included an audio commentary of the history of The Flower Fields. It allowed us to enjoy the flowers fields for as long as we wanted and then were able to get right back on it to finish the ride around the field all the way back to the starting point. The wagon ride is an additional $6 for adults and $3 for kiddos 3-10 and can be purchased once inside the flower fields.
Santa's Playground- Let the kiddos get all the wiggles out in their whimsical playground. Full of playhouses and giant mushrooms. Kiddos from our party as young as 4 and as old as 11 had the best time playing here.
Carlsbad Mining Company- My daughter had the best time sifting through sand in water to find some pretty awesome gemstones. Finding this inside the flower fields was such a pleasant surprise. This was only an additional $4 and we came home with some awesome polished stones!
Sweet Pea Maze- The living maze was so pretty and fun. Definitely a must for the kiddos.
Butterfly Garden- Their newly renovated garden celebrating the butterflies that help make flowers bloom was beautiful. Even the entrance to this garden felt magical. You will find yourself surrounded with vibrant beds of beautiful flowers and fun photo ops.
Food & Drinks- Get hungry while walking the fields...no problem. You don't even need to leave the fields to get some delicious food perfect for all ages. Inside you will find Pizza, ice cream, kettle corn, lemonade stand, coffee and a strawberry shack. The pizza is absolutely delicious and highly recommended.
Stamp Passport booklet- On arrival my daughter received a stamp passport that she enjoyed completing while exploring the fields. After she found all 8 stations she was able to get $1 off of the mining attraction. Win win!
Pictures- Of course this is the last one because its the most obvious one but really, you can get photoshoot style pictures here. Bring a portable tripod, come with friends who can take pictures and even bring outfit changes! They have clean accessible bathrooms you can change in without a problem. They have tons of different areas for some fun and vibrant pictures. Here are some we took and had tons of fun with.
